The photobook highlights the intersection of humanity and technology through a mix of traditional textures and digital effects. Barabancea presents an allegory of the post-truth era, where fragmented realities obscure identity and truth, while technology subtly shapes human cognition. Set against deteriorating post-socialist landscapes, his work offers a distinct Romanian narrative that addresses both the past and a future defined by surveillance and technological influence.

ARABIAN LOCATIONS, Gaëtan Soerensen – FR | Exhibition

Al-Aziziyah, near the Jordanian border in Saudi Arabia, is quickly transforming into a tourist destination, with new buildings and workers arriving fast. Just a few years ago, it didn’t exist; it’s part of a redevelopment effort spreading to the countryside.
Lacking official plans, the town feels randomly constructed, with many empty or unfinished houses. The photographer explores the idea of "place" versus "non-place," aiming to capture the unique reality of this unusual environment.

Now working on her PhD in sculpture, her recent project, Vessels of Light, reflects her year-long immersion in Romanian culture, capturing its essence across the seasons. Her sensitive and poetic work has been exhibited in prestigious venues in Japan, Romania, Vietnam, and France.

In the summer of 2016, César Dezfuli spent three weeks on the Iuventa, a boat run by the NGO Jugend Retter, rescuing migrants in the Mediterranean. On August 1st, he photographed 118 people saved from a dinghy near Libya, aiming to humanize their stories and capture their trauma as they arrived in Pozzallo, Italy.

Born in Madrid, Dezfuli is a self-taught journalist and photographer focused on migration and human rights. His work has spanned global issues, including elections and families defying China’s one-child policy. Since 2015, he has concentrated on the migrant crisis, leading to his project “Passengers,” which challenges how migration is visually represented.
