Hugo Webe was born in 1993 in Paris. At the age of 9, he moved to Milan, Italy. He graduated in graphic design in 2014, then interrupted his studies to work as an assistant to Alex Majoli, a photographer at the Magnum agency, for a year.
Since 2018, he has lived solely through his photography profession, taking on roles such as photographer, exhibition curator, executive producer, and manager for institutions like museums, municipalities, and festivals. He is also a retoucher for various photographic books by different authors.
He has worked on several socially relevant photography projects in France and Italy that have been published and exhibited worldwide. In 2022, he launched a curation project called T-House with Alex Zoboli and Angelo Leonardo, which led them to hold 12 exhibitions in 5 countries, showcasing both their own photographic projects and curating the work of international authors.
His MOIMOM project, which explores the atypical relationship he has with his mother, started in 2015 and is still ongoing. This project has been awarded, published, and exhibited internationally. Since November 2023, he has started a new project in Ukraine to document a community hosting displaced people and works as a volunteer to support his project.
He has collaborated and exhibited with several institutional entities such as Les Rencontres d’Arles, PHOTOHAUS, Fotografia Etica di Lodi, Biennale di Chiasso, Triennale di Milano, and Fabbrica del Vapore. His work has been published in national and international magazines such as D la Repubblica, Il Manifesto, Fisheye magazine, Polka magazine, and many others.
