Ameen Abo Kaseem

Photographer, visual artist, filmmaker | Palestine-Syria

Ameen Abo Kaseem is a Palestinian-Syrian documentary photographer, visual artist, and cinematographer based in Beirut. Graduating in 2023 with a BA in Visual Arts from the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts in Damascus, he is currently a member of the AL-AYOUN collective and an alumni of ADPP, Magnum Foundation, and Prince Claus Fund.

He started using photography in 2016 as a means of communication and self-expression. His work delves into his personal surroundings, exploring toxic lifestyles and methods of survival.

His first project “How was everything, before all this ruin?”, received a mentorship and a grant from AFAC and won the First Place in POY Asia 2023. His second project “My short-term memory”, an interactive photo based website that received a production grant from Ettijahat, his debut short film, “As we cross to the other side of the garden”, was funded by Südkulturfonds, and received ADPP Fellowship with Sara Kontar in 2024 for their project “Two Songs of Diaspora” for a collaborative long term documentary photo project.

Ameen also participated to group exhibitions such as “An expression of absence” at Magnum Foundation & BDC in New York, Fondazione Imago Mundi in Italy, Ked in Beirut, and others.
