Alfons Rodríguez

Alfons has traveled and worked in 106 countries across 6 continents. His photographic work has been exhibited in various countries in the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia. His images have been published in media outlets such as National Geographic Magazine, La Reppublica, Lens The New York Times, El País, Geo, The Courier, El Mundo, Vogue, La Vanguardia, Yo Dona, 5W, La Vie, Vice News, and Gatopardo, among many others.

He is the author of several books, notable among them being “Between Gazes,” “El Tercer Jinete Un mundo hambriento,” and “RASD, El Estado de los Saharauis.” He has also published the books “Figuig, un oasis en el camino,” “Walata y Tichitt, Corazón y Alma del desierto mauritano,” and “Indestructibles.” He is co-director of the feature-length documentary “The Sleeping Land” (www.thesleepingland.com), which has been selected in important international festivals, as well as another documentary, “Indestructibles,” also selected in international competitions.

Alfons has collaborated with organizations, foundations, and international agencies such as the United Nations, Oxfam, the Solidarity Foundation of the University of Barcelona, Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, and Action Against Hunger, to name a few, as well as with governments of various countries.

He has been awarded the National Prize for Social Reporting and has received other recognitions for his work, including mentions in the International Luis Valtueña Award and the Pont Award in the Arts category for his professional career. He is the winner of the Godó Photojournalism Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the country, and has received an honorable mention in the International ETTL Photo Awards from The Open Society Initiative for West Africa for his work on the consequences of Ebola in West Africa, as well as another mention in the Aspa Awards for “The Sleeping Land.” His documentary project “El Tercer Jinete, un mundo hambriento” received a diploma of recognition personally handed by King Felipe VI.

Alfons is the winner of the Sailou Traoré Prize and a finalist in the Fetisov Journalism Awards for two consecutive years, as well as a finalist in the True Story Awards with his project “Indestructibles” (www.indestructiblesafrica.org).
